The Butterfly Effect CAL 2019

The pattern is free and will be released every Friday at 12:00 (CET) and posted as a pattern part page with pictures and as a downloadable printer friendly “only text” version.

Video tutorials will be posted on the pattern page together with the written pattern. You may also find them, as they are released every week, on our YouTube channel.

Kay will gently guide you through the blanket and shares tips, tricks and thoughts as she goes.

Crochet Charts

Crochet charts have been drawn for all parts by the amazing Irina Palczynski and can be located under each written part and also as watermarked downloadable pdfs under translations.

We fell so in love with the first part of the pattern that we decided to draw up special edition CAL tote project bags and included them in all official yarn kits. Both the bags and the kits can be found in our shop.

The pattern is written in English with US-terms.

Our amazing translators are working on providing the following translations. Click on the their names to check them out.

We would of course love to add more languages. If you are interested in helping out with a translation; please contact us here on our contact form

If you’re wondering about the music found in the tutorials it is music created specifically for The Butterfly Effect. It’s written by Kela Ahnhem and Erik Holmberg, produced by Erik Holmberg. ©Mars Music

You can now also choose to just listen and crochet away to the calming music on YouTube!

  • “Color is a power which directly influences the soul.” - Wassily Kandinsky
And how I enjoy playing with this power...
Combining colors surely is a wonderful act of balance. You want your highlights and lowlights, your contrasts and your little unexpected all to work together and sing.. 🎶🎵🎶
Nothing to loud and nothing to quite, just perfectly balanced in harmony; many working as one. 🌿
How I do it? I go by the old routine of feel and test. I feel; try; feel; frog; feel and then try again. And again and again and again until I’m happy.
Luckily it is much easier to back up and change color whilst crocheting than it is whilst painting. ☺️
Oh and frogging is my best friend for sure! Just ask these four makes and they’ll tell you their stories...
  • Keep on learning .

I wasn't really sure what to do today.
For some reason I didn't feel like crocheting. But laying in my hammock trying to relax, I started thinking what I could make.
And then I thought of all the lovely yarn in my shed. The one that kept coming back was this lovely Ultrasoft from the Concept range by @katiayarns
As it's name suggests, it's a really soft 100% cotton yarn. It's eco friendly and vegan. .

I was kindly given this yarn from the new spring/summer collection and wanted to save it for a special project.
So laying in my hammock, I decided today was the day to make something with this lovely soft yarn.

Having no inspiration, I took my stitch bible and looked for a stitch I never made before.
I always had an idea of what I wanted to make with this yarn and now I think I have found the perfect stitch for it.
I'm not gonna tell what it will be just yet. First I have to see if it will work, but it's looking good so far...

And it turned out to be the perfect project for my mood today. I really needed something relaxing and cozy and maybe somewhat nostalgic and romantic! .

Have a lovely day!
